Wood Texture 2

Here's another tutorial on how to make a realistic wood texture using Photoshop.

Step 01.  Run Photoshop and make a new document (Ctrl/Cmd + N).  On this post I will be using 480 x 640 px, 72 ppi and white background.

Step 02.  Next, go to the Toolbox and change foreground color to #402e08 and background color to #8c6239.

Step 03.  Then, go to Filter > Render > Clouds.

Step 04.  Then, Filter > Noise > Add Noise... and follow these settings.

Step 05.  After that, duplicate layer by pressing Ctrl + J.  Hide the duplicate layer (Layer 1 copy) by clicking the eye icon and select Layer 1.   See image.

Step 06.  Next, go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur...

Step 07.  Here's the image.

Step 08.  Now, click the eye icon of  Layer 1 copy and select this layer.

Step 08.  Next, go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur...

Here's the image.

Step 09.  With this layer still being selected, change Blend Mode to Darken.

Step 10.  Then, merge the two layers by pressing Ctrl + E.  After that, go to Filter > Liquify...   when the Liquify Menu pops out press "W" or select the Forward Warp Tool, adjust brush size (I'm using 214) and then start brushing your image depending on your preferred result.  As always, you can experiment and play with your own settings.  Here's what I did.

This is what I came up.  This is the finished product.  You can actually stop here.

Step 11.  If you want to move forward, go to the Layers Palette double click Layer 1 to bring out the Layer Style Menu and you can follow these settings.

Here's the end result.
