Fixing Overexposed Photos

Today, I will be sharing with you how to fix overexposed photos with the aid of Photoshop.

Here's how.

Step 1. Open your overexposed photo in Photoshop and duplicate it (Ctrl+J).

For this tutorial I will be using this photo that I got from this site. You can go there and download this image.

Step 2. Next, change the blend mode of your duplicate layer to Multiply.

Step 3. Then, go to Image > Adjustments > Color Balance... and adjust the Midtones sliders to add some colors to your image.

Also, adjust the Shadows sliders.

Step 4. In the Layers Palette, click the Add Layer Mask button.

Step 5. In the Toolbox, grab the Brush tool and in Options bar, lower the Opacity to a minimum (maybe around 20%).

Step 6. Now, with a black foreground (#000000) simply brush off the darker areas in the image.

That was it, quick and easy.

And, here's the final adjustment.
