Creating Picture Frames 2

Today, I will be sharing with you how to digitally frame your photos in an easy way using Photoshop.

Here's how:

Step 1. Copy the photo below and open it in Photoshop. I have already reduced its size from the original image for the sake of this tutorial.

In the Layers Palette double click Background Layer to convert it into an editable regular layer. Click OK when New Layer window pops up. Our layer is now named Layer 0.

Photo Credit is taken from this link. You can go there and download the original photo by registering. Don't worry, it's quick and it's free. You can also browse thousands of free stunning images there.

Step 2. Next, go to Edit > Free Transform. In the Options Bar change the Width to 90% and the Height to 85%.

This is how our image looks like.

Step 3. After that, go to the Layers Palette, click Create a new layer button and then drag the new layer (Layer 1) below Layer 0.

Step 4. Press the "D" key to reset foreground and background colors to black and white. In the Toolbox, set Foreground Color to #006600 (or you can have your own color), and then grab the Paint Bucket Tool and fill the new layer with the foreground color.

Step 5. Next, select Filter > Noise > Add Noise. Tick Gaussian and Monochromatic. Adjust amount of distribution up to 17%.

Step 6. Go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur... and apply distance of 19 pixels.

Step 7. Then, select Layer 0, "Ctrl+right click" thumbnail of Layer 1 to load selection, press Delete in your keyboard. Then, deselect by pressing Ctrl+D.

Next, double click Layer 0 to bring out the Layer Style window, click Bevel and Emboss and apply the following settings. (Highlight Mode color is #ccffcc and Shadow Mode is #006600)

After that, click Texture (under Bevel and Emboss). Open Pattern Picker by clicking the down-arrow in the Pattern box. Select Dark Gray Flecks. You can adjust the scale and depth of your texture if you like. Lastly, Tick the "Invert" check box. Hit OK when you're done.

Go to Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast... Lower Brightness down to -12 and increase Contrast up to 20. Now, we have a green, roughly-textured wooden frame.

Step 8. After that, click Create a new layer button in the Layers Palette. In the Toolbox, make sure your foreground and background colors are set to green (#006600) and white (#ffffff). Then, go to Filter > Render > Clouds and drag the new layer (Layer 2) below Layer 1.

Step 9. Select Layer 0 and go to Edit > Free Transform (Ctrl+T). In the Options bar adjust Width to 85% and Height to 70%.

This will turn our image into something like this.

Step 10. Now, select Layer 2. "Ctrl+right click" thumbnail of Layer 0 to bring out selection. Press the Delete key in your keyboard and deselect (Ctrl+D).

Double click Layer 2 and then apply Bevel and Emboss with the following settings.

Finally, this is now our image being beautifully framed.

I hope you like this simple Photoshop tutorial. Have a nice day.
